About

In February 2005, I packed up all my belongings and made the big move from Iowa to Washington, DC.  I absolutely love living in the city, but I think the old saying holds true:  you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.

  1. Hi Jenny,

I love that saying! I recently returned to Des Moines, Iowa from Los Angeles. I altered it a bit by saying “You can take a girl out of Iowa, but you can’t take the Iowa out of a girl.”

I have an idea of something Iowa-related you can blog about if you’re interested. Just send me an e-mail for more details.

    Thanks,

    Hillary

  2. Hi Jenny – found your blog through one of WordPress’s “possibly related” links. I did the same thing in 1990 – moved from central PA right into downtown DC. Family thought I was crazy but 20 years later, here I still am and I love it!

coincidentally, we have lifelong friends who live in Lee County IA – near Keokuk.

I’ll be reading your blog in the coming weeks!

  3. Hi Jenny! My name is also Jenny Martin….way to go! And my mom is from Iowa. I stumbled upon your blog when searching to see how easily my blog would pop up on doing a google-name search.
(We’re in the adoption process and have to be a bit careful about what personal info I post with my full name). Anyway, love your blog! Your photos are awesome!
